The new Swedish Air Force Museum is interesting, fun and educational for everyone, regardless of previous knowledge, age or interests. We welcome everyone, families, aviation experts, children and seniors.
The museum is located at the Malmen field, which was being used for military training back at the end of the 16th century. Sweden’s first aviator, Carl Cederström, opened the first flying school in the country here, in 1912.
The museum’s extensive collection of artefacts includes planes, engines, instruments, uniforms, and so much more. Our knowledge centre (faktarum), with its library and archives, contains literature, periodicals, plans, photographs and personal files relating to aviation.
The museum is part of the National Swedish Museums of Military History, a government agency. The establishment of the Swedish Air Force Museum was also aided by the Östergötland Society for Aviation History (ÖFS). Today, ÖFS acts as a support organisation for the museum, and actively works at tasks such as the restoration of aircraft.
