There is an easily understandable information sign inside of the entrance with symbols that enable visitors to orient themselves in the building.
Persons with an impaired sense of direction can move safely to every room without passing stairs. It is possible to turn a wheelchair in all the rooms. The floors in the exhibition galleries consist of concrete and rubber mats without edges or unevenness.
Evacuation
Visitors with functional impairments can reach safety in the event of fires and other emergency situations. The evacuation paths are clearly marked and can be found in all areas on the museum. Evacuation drills involving all the personnel are carried out regularly.
Seats
There are plenty of seats in many places inside and outside the museum.
Science centre
The noise level can be high in this area. Everyone should be able to take part in most of the experiments.
The restaurant
Everyone can visit the museum restaurant. The restaurant has two restrooms, one of which is for disabled visitors. The door of the restaurant is equipped with an elbow switch. In the summer, the restaurant has two open air seating areas. Although the doors are not equipped with automatic openers, the doors between the restaurant and the outdoor space are kept open on warm summer days. Smoking is prohibited.
The knowledge centre
Any visitor can enjoy the museum’s knowledge centre - archives and library area. The fittings and equipment are designed to make the knowledge centre accessible for persons with impaired mobility. The reception desk is adapted to disabled person, and has a height of 80 cm. Personal service is always available in the knowledge centre. Visitors to this area should use the restrooms in the restaurant and the entrance area.
Reception area and museum shop
The reception area and museum shop can easily be seen from the entrance. The reception area has ample seating for those who wish to rest or are waiting for rides. The museum shop is accessible for persons in wheelchairs. The reception desk has varying heights, ranging from 78 to 95 cm. The cloakroom next to the reception area contains an unstaffed wardrobe and lockable cabinets.
Auditorium
Visitors with functional impairments can participate in the activities held in the auditorium. Here there is room for manual or powered wheelchairs among the seats for the audience. The fittings are flexible, and the auditorium is fitted with an audio loop. The level of illumination can be adjusted.
