The threat to Sweden was always present, and the number of planes in the Air Force needed to increase rapidly. However, deals with manufacturers in various countries were often cancelled due to export prohibitions. It was therefore important to ensure that Swedish factories manufactured these planes.
Fighter planes made in Sweden
The last years of the war saw the first Swedish manufactured fighter planes joining the wings, including SAAB’s B 17 and B 18 planes, J 22, rapidly designed at the factories of the Aviation Administration in Stockholm, and the SAAB J 21A.
