The museum’s aviation science centre – for children and adults

as

At the Flight Lab, you can learn lots about why and how things fly. There is much to do and discover for the whole family.

Take a trip on our flying carpet, try being a flight controller or text to stand in the middle of a storm. Here are three of our experiment stations:

"You and Gripen"

JAS 39 Gripen is the fighter plane of the Armed Forces. In our simulator, you can be a pilot for the day, and get a chance to fly a JAS 39 Gripen on your own. An instructor will help you, but you’re the one holding the controls.

"Air traffic controller in total control"

At our air control station, you can see how it feels to be an air traffic controller. An air traffic controller works at airports, and makes sure that planes start, land and fly correctly. This experiment station lets you be the air traffic controller at the Swedish Air Force Museum’s own airport.

"The Wing"

Why do the wings of a plane look the way they do? Why are they thin and oval-shaped rather than thick and square? Test our various wing profiles, and find out which one flies best.
